Primary Purpose
According to the NCAA, theSenior Woman Admin(Senior Woman Admin) is the highest-ranking female in each NCAA athletics department or conference office. The purpose of theSenior Woman Admin designation is to promote meaningful representation of women in the leadership and management of college sports.

The Associate Athletic Director (AD) for Internal Operations and Sports Performance/Senior Woman Admin will collaborate with the Director of Athletics to support and advance the mission of the Department of Athletics and Idaho State University.

The Associate AD for Internal Operations & Sports Performance/Senior Woman Admin is responsible for oversight of the areas of athletic training services, strength training, compliance, and academics. The position will work to implement policies, protocols and initiatives which enhance the quality of the student-athlete experience, enhance their health and wellness, and support their educational goals.

The Associate AD for Internal Operations & Sports Performance/Senior Woman Admin assists in ensuring University compliance with applicable National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Big Sky Conference, and University rules and regulations governing all facets of intercollegiate athletics programs. As part of the department leadership team, theSenior Woman Admin serves as the sports administrator for multiple men's and women's intercollegiate athletic teams and participates in goal-setting, performance management, and budget planning and monitoring.

TheSenior Woman Admin is responsible, in partnership with the AD and the Gender Equity Committee, for developing, implementing and monitoring progress on the Five Year Plan for Gender Equity.

The position requires a travel commitment of up to 50%.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with and oversees the Assistant AD for Compliance in monitoring violations of NCAA rules and regulations. Ensures that the athletic program is in compliance with NCAA rules governing eligibility. Coordinates with other University departments involved with student-athletes, (e.g., Admissions, Central Advising, Registrar, and Financial Aid) to verify compliance with NCAA rules and regulations regarding student-athlete eligibility.
  • Assists in completing necessary institutional and NCAA reports, such as the EADA Report, regarding Gender Equity, graduation rates, academic progress rate, progress toward degree, violations and other required reporting. Collects and analyzes data and prepares reports as needed for the NCAA, Big Sky Conference, Idaho State University and the Director of Athletics.
  • Provides indirect oversight for and collaborates with the compliance unit (reports to legal counsel) and academic support unit (reports to central advising). Oversees operations and policies of the academic support unit for athletics.
  • Oversees the implementation of a robust academic services model in athletics which includes the identification of high risk students, development of individual academic plans for those units, and ensures execution of those plans by the Director of Academics and Academic Advisors.
  • Facilitates and fosters clear and effective communication between academic services and compliance to ensure sharing of information, accuracy, and cooperation in all appropriate functions.
  • Facilitates the attainment of personal development and academic goals by student-athletes, developing a culture and environment conducive to both. Provides opportunities for academic assistance, and monitors the academic progress of student-athletes.Initiates necessary education and programming to support the enhancement of student-athlete life skills.
  • Develops strategies and initiatives in conjunction with the Office of Equity and Inclusion to promote the value of diversity and inclusion in intercollegiate athletics. Collaborates with staff to implement gender and minority plans that meet the requirements of Title IX and reflect the values of the University.
  • Serves as the liaison with the Student Conduct Office and manages, in conjunction with the Director of Athletics, student athlete welfare and discipline issues.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Athletics and for assigned sports, coordinates and approves team schedules for practice and competition which support the established goals for selected women's and/or men's sports, coordinating specific game dates among the various athletics teams and with other universities and colleges, and ensuring that the schedule includes an appropriate balance of home and away games and that the required facilities (i.e., fields, courts, arenas) are available to support the schedule.
  • Provides direct strategic oversight for select athletic department administrative support units: athletic training, strength and conditioning, nutrition.
  • Serves as the sport administrator for multiple men's and women's intercollegiate athletic teams by providing leadership and support to coaches and student-athletes and managing day-to-day needs and issues. Report regularly to the AD regarding the health, progress and needs of these programs, and facilitate involvement of the AD at appropriate times. Cover all home competitions for appointed teams.
  • Assists the Director of Athletics by executing initiatives and special projects, evaluating functions, practices, facilities, and evaluating staff performance. Provides assistance and input in personnel decisions and actions.
  • Represents the university at various university, conference, and National (NCAA) meetings as theSenior Woman Adminwithin the intercollegiate athletics program.
  • Participates in developing a culture of excellence across the department, determining and guiding strategic direction, and positively engaging department staff in change and growth.
  • Serves as a liaison for student-athletes. Listens to and evaluates student concerns and issues, provides guidance and facilitates problem-solving, and engages the Director of Athletics appropriately with expressed issues and concerns.
  • Oversees the maintenance and update of the student-athlete handbook, student-athlete code of conduct, drug policy, and other student-focused policies and procedures.
  • Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues and participating in professional development opportunities.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Athletic Administration or related field.
  • Evidence of at least five years experience working with collegiate athletics.
  • Demonstrated understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
  • Strong computer and technical skills to support high utilization of various university systems, institutional and national databases, Big Sky Conference and NCAA portals and resources, and other technology based tools and subscriptions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in managing, supervising, and evaluating sport programs.
  • Experience managing initiatives in Academic Student Services, NCAA compliance, Gender Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and overall student-athlete well-being.

 

Priority consideration will be given to applications received by June 28, 2019. However, the position will remain open until filled. Salary has been approved at $75,000 - $82,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience. Includes a competitive benefits package. Offers of employment may be conditional pending successful completion of a background investigation.
